We are recruiting postdoctoral research fellows to join our team @ Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about identifying new proteins and mechanisms that contribute to mitochondrial function, energy homeostasis and metabolic disorders.

We previously discovered new mito-SEPs (mitochondrial sORF-encoded peptides) (Zhang et al., 2020, Nature Communications) and are working to assign molecular functions to them, with a special focus on the those involved in immune-metabolism.

In the course of delineating the processes which mito-SEPs regulate, we aim to uncover new paradigms that govern the metabolic regulation of biological processes. Ideal candidate should have expertise and interest in the following areas:

  • Mitochondrial biochemistry, physiology and bioenergetics
  • Hematopoietic development, immunology
  • Immuno-metabolism, inflammation or host-pathogen immune interactions
  • Mass spectrometry
  • Bioinformatics surrounding metabolic modelling, single-cell or spatial transcriptomics
  • Metabolic or immune-phenotyping of mouse models

JobDescription:

  • Conceptualize new ideas and develop plans for independent research
  • Generating high quality experimental data
  • Write and present research papers
  • Develop connections with local and international researchers for collaboration work
  • Grant and fellowship applications
  • Contribute to project management and guiding junior researchers in the team

Prerequisites

  • PhD in a related scientific area or MD-PhD
  • Track record of productivity with publications of high quality in your field of study
  • Ambitious and adventurous personality, eager to establish and employ non-conventional approaches
  • Conceptual, critical and analytical thinking
  • Autonomy and goal-directedness, able to organize and prioritize, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong team player skills with the ability to function as a critical part of a multidisciplinary whole

Interested applicants, please send your CV and a statement of purpose to lenaho@duke-nus.edu.sgand hr@duke-nus.edu.sg. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
