The KOF Swiss Economic Institute at the ETH Zurich is the leading institute for applied research in economics in Switzerland (www.kof.ethz.ch). KOF provides expert information in the field of economic and business cycle research. It produces a multitude of forecasts and indicators which are used to monitor the economy. It analyses the innovation activities of Swiss companies, publishes studies on the labour market and healthcare spending, and comments on the latest economic developments.
At KOF, economic researchers work together with data engineering and operations experts to turn data into information creating meaningful, up-to-date economic indicators. We offer an opportunity to work on applied, real-world economic problems while learning applied programming with data at the interface between economics and data engineering. As part of a small, dynamic data team at KOF, you will support our researchers as well as our external partners to establish and automate data dissemination. You will use your background in economics or political science to help our partners and researchers select the right data for their needs.

Successful applicants should have a background in political science, economics. or a comparable discipline. Candidates have to be fluent in English as well as fluent in written German or written French. Basic experience with Python and/or the R programming language as well as general interest in programming with data is a big plus. We are looking for reliable team players who communicate well and are also able to work independently. Candidates must be immatriculated in a Swiss university.
