The Chair of Analysis and Mathematical Physics at EPFL, headed by Prof. Marius Lemm as of September 1, 2020, welcomes applications for a postdoctoral position.
Main duties and responsibilities include :
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to actively participate in the mathematical research agenda of the Chair of Analysis and Mathematical Physics. The research focus is on treating quantum-mechanical systems by analytical methods. Current areas of interest include random matrices, spectral theory of Schrödinger operators, homogenization theory, quantum spin systems and quantum information theory.
The teaching load is comparatively light: the postdoctoral fellow will serve as a teaching assistant for one course per semester. The fellow will also aid in the advising of students at the Bachelor and Master level.
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to participate in the Mathematical Physics Seminar at EPFL and occasionally help with seminar or conference organization if necessary.

The appointment will be primarily based on excellent scientific contributions and outstanding research potential in mathematical physics performed by analytical methods. (Previous research experience in the specific areas that are investigated at the Chair of Analysis and Mathematical Physics is not required.)
English is the main language spoken at EPFL, and Lausanne is highly international, so no French language skills are required.
