The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council and is a research centre of the University of Sydney.

This research-focused position, calls for a health economist to undertake within-trial and modelled economic evaluations in cancer and perinatal medicine; building on methods for quality of life analyses and consumer engagement.

Working within a collaborative team, you will be responsible for analysis of healthcare resource use, calculating out-of-pocket and costs to other sectors, utility estimation, calculation of cost-effectiveness, including sensitivity analyses and report writing. You will have experience in supervising summer scholars and HDR students.

  • a PhD degree in a quantitative discipline such as health economics, biostatistics, mathematics, economics, epidemiology, pharmacy, or similar field
  • formal qualifications in Economics and Public Health
  • advanced modelling skills using TreeAGE and Excel
  • track record in Category 1 grants as a Chief Investigator (e.g. NHMRC, MRFF, ARC, Cancer Australia)
  • high level statistical computing skills using STATA, SAS, R, or similar
  • first author publications in peer-reviewed medical or economics journals
  • excellent analytic, written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively lead and/or work as part of a team
  • experience using linked administrative data, e.g. Medicare.
