At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Planning, Aalborg, a position as Assistant Professor in Environmental Planning and Assessments is open for appointment from 01.07.2021 – 30.06.2024 or soon hereafter. The research areas will be within the field of environmental planning and assessment. In particular, you are expected to contribute to the research and teaching within the field of environmental assessment and sustainability. Moreover, you will take part in relevant ongoing research projects.
Teaching will primarily be in the Bachelor Program in Urban, Energy and Environmental Planning and the international Master’s Program in Environmental Management, but also in other study programs at the University. Experience with problem-based learning is an advantage.
Environmental planning and assessment is a broad field of research. This position focuses on environmental decision-making and assessment of environmental impacts in a field, which you will be a part of defining. As examples of sectors, this focus could be within land-use, biodiversity, water, extraction industries, or others, and it could theoretically be about governance, regulatory instruments, power, or others.
As part of the position, you are offered the possibility to undertake the course in university pedagogy for Assistant Professors at Aalborg University. The course is a comprehensive, research-based pedagogical competence development course that provides Assistant Professors with the pedagogical and didactic foundation for a permanent career at Aalborg University (or another higher education institution).
You are expected to have experience with research and teaching and have shown interest in networking for research purposes and collaboration with stakeholders.
You are expected to be willing to learn Danish in order to teach in Danish at the bachelor programme.
The workplace is Aalborg and the position period is three years with possibility for prolongation for a maximum of 1 year.
The position is within the Danish Center for Environmental Assessment (DCEA). DCEA is a group of 20 researchers within the field of environmental assessment and governance. The group reflects a team with cross-disciplinary competences, a balanced proportion of men and women, a balance between experienced researchers and young talent, and different ethnicities.

Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total in a temporary position (appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark).
