At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology, a position as Assistant Professor in Sustainable Architecture is open for appointment from May 1st, 2021 or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 3 years.  The Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology’s goal is the development of an innovative cluster of engineering-based environments for education and research which integrate creativity, engineering and technology within the disciplines of architecture, urban design, industrial design, digital design and interactive media. The department is a leading research and educational environment in Denmark that addresses the challenge of the interplay between creativity and technology, and develops new areas in research and education directed towards the end-user.

The position as Assistant Professor is a 3-year position and is placed at the intersections between architectural design, engineering and human perspectives. We are looking for a candidate with a background in Architecture and/or Engineering that holds a cross-disciplinary approach working from both the architectural and engineering domains, and ideally someone who can advance these into novel syntheses studies.

The position contains research within the key themes: Integrated design thinking, design processes, climate change and/or adaptation, everyday life and sustainability, including both theoretical and applied studies.

Candidates with a strong design profile are preferred, as the work is oriented towards the design fields, but with a clear focus on engineering and technological dimensions. The ability to work holistically within sustainable built environment and the users is highly relevant. Moreover, the ability to sketch and design in various formats and media is important, but also experience with user involvement, simulation studies and/or computational design programming will be highly appreciated.
Besides architectural engineering design competencies and skills, you must show a strong academic commitment to both basic and applied research. An interest in research of societal relevance is important, as well as an interest to explore inter-disciplinary collaboration.

The position includes teaching obligations at both undergraduate and master’s level, including supervising master thesis students as well as other related work at the department and educational programs.
