The Center for Climate Systems Modeling (C2SM) is an extra-departmental science center of ETH Zurich. In collaboration with the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss and further partners, C2SM jointly developed the CH2018 Climate Scenarios for Switzerland (www.climate-scenarios.ch). These scenarios are now being employed in practice, which involves the development of specific user-tailored climate scenario products. Furthermore, planning for a future climate scenario generation is currently under way.
To support current Swiss climate scenarios in both scientific and technical terms and to boost the development of future scenario generations, we are looking for a highly motivated Scientific Collaborator. Your main tasks will be to:
- Facilitate the use of the CH2018 scenarios by providing technical user support and by facilitating the data and information access via the CH2018 website and the corresponding data servers
- Develop and implement additional climate scenario products based on CH2018 and in close collaboration with end users
- Support the technical operationalization of climate scenarios
These activities will be embedded in the Center for Climate Systems Modeling (C2SM) and will involve a close collaboration with MeteoSwiss, the National Centre for Climate Services (NCCS), and further partners at national and international level. The position will be attached to the team Climate Evolution at MeteoSwiss.
You have an MSc in natural science or computational science. A PhD in meteorology, climatology, environmental science or a related field is a plus. Working experience with climate (model) or further environmental data will be considered an advantage. You are an open-minded, team-oriented, and goal-driven individual who enjoys maintaining close contacts with practitioners and end users of climate service products. We offer an engaging position in an innovative research field with leading edge methods and technology. A good command of the English language is required. Good knowledge of German is a plus.
