We are looking for a highly motivated, positive, and curious PhD candidate for working on the topic of Responsible Internet (RI).
We are looking for a highly motivated, positive, and curious PhD candidate for working on the topic of Responsible Internet (RI).
Policy makers around the world, and especially in Europe, are increasingly concerned about the trustworthiness and sovereignty of the foundations of their digital economy as these depend on systems operated or manufactured elsewhere. RI curbs this problem as it improves the transparency, accountability and controllability of the Internet at the network-level.
As one of seven PhDs, you will work within the HBE cluster on the NWO funded CATRIN project. In this project, we bring social scientists together with computer scientists, designing a Responsible Internet such that it provides ample room for innovation and successful commercial enterprises.
We are seeking a PhD candidate who can work full-time in a 4-year period and will be part of a team of interdisciplinary researchers looking to make RI a reality.
Your work will provide critically important insights to the design of RI. Based on a thorough study of past and current incentive structures in the deployment/uptake of new Internet technology, you will identify properties of the Responsible Internet that give operators an incentive to participate. You will also analyze how new and innovative business models can profit from, and reinforce, the gradual deployment of the RI.
Can you help us build an economically and socially feasible Responsible Internet? If you like working with companies and at the same time enjoy data analysis then you are the candidate for this position!
