Postdoc in Bioinformatics and Data analysis of single-cell genomics datasets (scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, imaging/seq-based spatial Tx)

We are looking for a highly motivated computational postdoc for a 2-year position, to join the group of Associate Professor Kedar Natarajan from July 1st 2022 or soon thereafter.

Our research
Our group investigates how individual cells undertake cell-fate decisions in stem cells and complex tissues, particularly in development and during differentiation. We develop, utilise experimental methods including single-cell transcriptomics, ATAC-seq, multi-omics and spatial transcriptomics, and also develop computational approaches for large-scale analysis of next-generation sequencing data

Our science and team is highly collaborative and interdisciplinary, and welcomes new members with competences in relevant fields.

More details can be found at: http://www.bioengineering.dtu.dk/Kedar-Natarajan

Responsibilities and qualifications
You will be mainly involved in analysis of single-cell genomics datasets (scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, imaging/seq-based spatial Tx) to understand molecular mechanisms driving cellular differentiation. Alongside setting up workflows for single-cell analysis, you will be involved in developing new computational methods for single-cell analysis (transcriptomics, spatial analysis) for ongoing lab projects.

The candidate should have a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics or in a related quantitative field (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Statistics), with prior experience in analysing bulk and single-cell sequencing datasets. As a part of a multidisciplinary team and research environment, the candidate is expected to be passionate about science, hardworking, learning oriented and work collectively within the group and with collaborators.

Profile
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic researcher with following competences:

Essential experience and skills:

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics or in a related quantitative field (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Statistics)
  • Proficiency with programming languages (Python or R) and documented experience analysing NGS datasets (bulk transcriptomics, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq etc.,), and working with HPC.
  • Good publication record
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and ability to work in collaborative environment

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Prior experience with multi-modal single cell analysis, Machine Learning and/or big data analysis
  • Experience with computational methods/algorithm development and data integration
  • Experience with different graphical packages for scientific manuscripts and illustration.

You will be based at DTU Bioengineering, and interact locally with other bioinformatics colleagues and groups at Bioengineering and DTU Health Technology, as well as our national, international partners. A collaborative mindset is expected as well as a proven ability to work in teams and communicate scientific research through presentations and submitted manuscripts. Working independently and charting research direction are valued. If you are highly driven, you will have opportunities to write grants for further strengthening research opportunities and participate in the broader collaborations.
