The Department of Economics of the University of Zurich invites applications for the position of a Predoctoral Fellow in Economics. The Predoctoral Fellow will work on projects within economics of child development, labor, and gender under the supervision of Prof. Anne Brenøe. Currently, ongoing projects study maternal labor supply and causes and consequences of early childhood health investments.The position offers an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in developing cutting-edge empirical research. We expect to involve the candidate in different stages of research. The predoctoral position is a full-time commitment. It combines research work with learning activities and is ideal for a recent graduate who is interested in going on to do a Ph.D. in Economics.
Specific responsibilities include obtaining, organizing and cleaning data, analyzing data using statistical software, presenting results, writing documentations and reports, and supporting an ongoing field experiment.
Your profile
- Education: This position is usually filled by those with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, social sciences, public policy, mathematics, statistics, or related fields. Training in microeconomics, econometrics, and statistics is required.
- Experience: Candidates should have hands-on experience with statistical software notably Stata. Formal post-undergraduate professional experience is not required.
- Time Management: Proven ability to handle several different projects/tasks at one time, successfully complete tasks assigned, and meet deadlines. A willingness to work hard, be self-motivated, and learn will be essential for doing well in this position.
- Communication: Good oral and written communication skills in English.

This position has a flexible start date in the fall 2022. The appointment will be for one year and may be extended by one additional year.
