Job description
A 1-year Researcher position in systems neuroscience is available in the group of Associate Professor Koen Vervaeke: http://vervaeke-lab.org/. The lab is located at the Division of Physiology, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences (IMB), at the University of Oslo. The position is funded for a period of 1 year and available from the 1st of August 2022.
The Faculty of Medicine has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
More about the position
We are searching for highly motivated candidates with a strong interest in systems neuroscience, microscopy, optical physics, and hardware automation. The successful candidate will help further develop techniques in two-photon laser microscopy and perform experiments. This requires automation of complex microscope systems.
Qualification requirements
- Applicants must hold a PhD in neuroscience and have experience in systems neuroscience techniques such as two-photon microscopy and optogenetics, and have experience developing hardware and software automation for these techniques.
- Applicants should have good programming skills (LabVIEW and Matlab), be a critical thinker and team player. Links to previously written code packages are essential to assess experience. The candidate should be able to work independently and structured, while at the same time engage in close collaborations.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
