The research subject Product Innovation wishes to recruit one or several PhD students to research projects about production innovation for sustainability. More specifically it is about production development for resilience, sustainability and circularity through close collaboration between actors involved in the value chain, both small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and larger corporations.
The research subject Product Innovation focuses on various aspects of innovation in the product development process, from early phases of innovation to production and lifecycle commitments, and research results are translated into methods, tools, prototypes and demonstrators for industrial as well as academic settings.
Subject description
Product Innovation comprises theories and methods for needs- and knowledge-driven development processes where products and services are linked.
Project description
The projects are about developing decision support systems and frameworks for proactive work with sustainability and resilience in the development of both new and existing production systems. The research identifies important aspects of a competitive, sustainable and resilient production system and supports the ability of manufacturing companies to create future-proof production systems in efficient industrial value chains, based on circularity, in terms of minimal waste and long-term overall sustainability, including social, ecological and long-term economic values.
