Professor (100 %) in Sculpture/Installation
At the Art Academy – Department of Contemporary Art, there is a vacancy for a position as professor (100%) in Sculpture/Installation.
Work responsibilities/research area:
We are looking for a professor with an extensive artistic practice within sculpture/installation on a high international level. Potential candidates must master and articulate a range of diverse perspectives on sculpture/installation and related practices, both artistically and thematically. We are seeking applicants with a special knowledge on casting and casting-processes. In addition, own practice and teaching must be based on broad knowledge of contemporary art, art history and technical aspects of sculpture/installation.
In collaboration with colleagues at the department, our new professor will contribute to developing the subject area sculpture/installation. Applicants must engage in artistic research within the framework of the Art Academy – Department of Contemporary Art, and within the workshops connected to the department. Applicants must have documented experience with project development and external funding.
Sculpture/installation is an integral part of the overall tuition offered by the Department. The person appointed will be responsible for teaching/courses within the field of sculpture/ installation and for the overall teaching/courses offered, in collaboration with colleagues at the department.
Applicants should have a theoretical understanding of the field of sculpture/installation within contemporary art. Our new Professor must be able to document reflections about artistic processes that can be included in the teaching. The successful applicant must be able to provide supervision at all levels and serve as the main supervisor for students who are working with other media/forms of expression.

Qualifications and personal qualities:
- Extensive artistic activities at the highest-level conforming to international standards and relevant breadth and specialization at the highest level of the subject or discipline

The teaching language is Scandinavian or English. The successful applicant must be able to teach in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language within two years of being appointed.
The applicants’ academic competence will be assessed by an expert committee. The best qualified applicants will be called in for interview and trial lecture by an internal interview team.

- Salary at pay grade 79 – 81 (code 1013) in the state salary scale. This currently amounts to an annual salary of NOK 814 900 – 864 500 before taxes. A higher salary may be considered for a particularly well qualified applicant.
