The following Sessional Lecturer positions are available in the Department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Scarborough for the Fall 2022 academic session. This posting is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between The Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902 (Unit 3). In accordance with the Collective Agreement, this posting is being sent as an email notification to all applicants in the Department’s Applicant Pool: all Sessional Lecturers who are teaching for the Department during the current academic year or who have taught for the Department since September 1, 2005, and all persons who have submitted an application within the past twenty four months.

Course Description:
FREB013F Language Practice 3
This course is designed to reinforce and develop fluency, accuracy of expression and style through an action-oriented approach to language teaching and learning. Students will improve their communicative language competencies (listening, reading, speaking and writing) by engaging in task-based activities in real-world, contextual situations.
By the end of FREB01H3 and FREB02H3, students will have completed the level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference

Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in French or a related area of study. Sound knowledge and understanding of the subject matter gained through previous involvement with the course or its equivalent. Strong academic record and professional promise. Preference will be given to candidates who have previously taught FREB01H3 or equivalent.
Duties:
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
Salary: in accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the stipend rate for a half course (Y, F or S), inclusive of vacation pay, will be the following. Rates for replacement Sessional Lectureres will be prorated.:
Sessional Lecturer I – $8,489.67
Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term $8,869.25
Sessional Lecturer II $9,085.58
Sessional Lecturer III $9,301.90

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
