Description:
The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto is seeking a Clinician Teacher to join the division based at Sinai Health System/University Health Network, with primary appointment at Mt Sinai Hospital. The successful applicant must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor. Effective start date of the appointment is November 1, 2022 or shortly thereafter.
The position of a Clinician Teacher requires a dedicated, accomplished general rheumatologist whose clinical areas of interest/expertise align with the divisional requirements. The position focuses on clinical care, with 90% of time spent in patient care activities and 10% devoted to administrative and/or formal teaching responsibilities. The candidate is expected to provide excellent clinical care in the ambulatory and inpatient settings. The clinical work will be predominantly in the outpatient setting but the successful candidate will also be participating as an attending physician for the rheumatology consultation service at University health Network/Mount Sinai Hospital and participate in the after-hours/weekend on call schedule for the division, covering UHN and Mount Sinai hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in clinical teaching and to participate in some formal teaching or administrative service within their scope of practice and expertise.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent, have successfully completed subspecialty training in a recognized rheumatology postgraduate training program, and must have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Anticipated compensation is approximately $200,000 – $300,000 per year (estimate based on fee-for-service billings for a Clinician Teacher).
Mt Sinai Hospital is an acute care facility within Sinai Health System. For Internal Medicine and its subspecialties, Mt Sinai Department of Medicine is partnered with University Health Network Department of Medicine. As such, the Division of Rheumatology spans both institutions.
