Course description:
This course focuses on the further development of grammatical structures from Introduction to Hindi and continues to next level of Hindi grammar and communicative skills. Students will be introduced to the vocabulary of intermediate level to advance. Their speaking and writing skills will be developed by writing compositions and short essays.

Class schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3pm-5pm (NOTE: All courses at UofT Mississauga are expected to be delivered in-person in Fall/Winter 2022-23. In keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the University.)
Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022
Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I – $8489.67 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $8869.25 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II – $9085.58 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III – $9301.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications:
Applicants must have a completed a Ph.D with a background in the relevant area of the course. Demonstrated experience teaching university-level Hindi language courses and cultural studies is required. Native, or near-native, Hindi language fluency is required.
Preferred qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Preference will be given those with experience teaching a similar language course. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
Description of duties:
Preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours and maintaining other forms of contact with students; supervising TAs assigned to the course (if any); attending course administrative meetings as required.
