Course description:

A study of the linguistic transition from Latin to Italian, the “Questione della lingua,” developments in 18th and 19th centuries, and contemporary trends, through readings and linguistic analyses of representative texts.

Class schedule: Monday and Wednesday 9-11:00 (NOTE: All courses at UofT Mississauga are expected to be delivered in-person in Fall 2022.  In keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the University).

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022

Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I – $16,979.34 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $17,738.50 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II – $18,171.16 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III – $18,603.80 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications: Applicants must have a completed a Ph.D. in Italian Studies with a demonstrated knowledge in the specific area of the course. Experience teaching this course is highly desirable. Native Italian language fluency expected.


Preferred qualifications: Proven record of strength in teaching/facilitating student learning. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12

Description of duties:

Preparation and delivery of course content development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to the course.
