Course description:

Advanced Spanish for non-natives. Selective review of grammar with emphasis on the complex sentence; intensive practice in written and oral expression to improve proficiency. As part of this course, students may have the option of participating in an international learning experience that will have an additional cost and application process.

Class schedule: Tuesdays 11am-1pm and Thursdays 10am-11am (NOTE: All courses at UofT Mississauga are expected to be delivered in-person in Fall/Winter 2022-23. In keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the University.)

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023

Salary:

Sessional Lecturer I – $16,979.34 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $17,738.50 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II – $18,171.16 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III – $18,603.80 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications: Applicants must have a completed a Ph.D. in Spanish Studies. Demonstrated experience teaching advanced Spanish language courses is required. Native or near native Spanish language fluency is required.

Preferred qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Preference will be given to those with experience teaching a similar language course. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.

Description of duties:

Preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours and maintaining other forms of contact with students; supervising TAs assigned to the course (if any); attending course administrative meetings as required.
