Stockholm University is seeking to fill three tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level within the framework of the Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability (WISE), a program funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. The assistant professor position in this announcement refers to research within the field of materials chemistry towards nanoporous materials. The WISE fellow recruited will be part of a national WISE research program with many opportunities for interaction with other researchers and stakeholders within the subject area. The startup package for the recruited WISE fellow includes funding of two doctoral students and two postdoctoral fellows.
This assistant professor position will be placed at the Department of materials and environmental chemistry (MMK). MMK is one of the largest departments at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Stockholm University with about 170 employees. The research has strong focus on the development of new materials employing green synthesis and sustainable processing routes to address grand challenges in energy, environment and health. MMK has also strong research in developing advanced methodologies for chemical analysis and structural characterization. The Department has state-of-the-art instruments for characterization of materials, and hosts several core facilities for infrastructure. There is a long tradition to work closely with industrial partners for knowledge transfer from fundamental research to reserach nad development (R&D).
The circular materials research field is becoming an essential and rapidly growing part of materials chemistry and materials processing, with important connections to data-driven material science methodologies such as machine learning, and toxicological and life-cycle assessment and management of materials and processes. The recruited candidate will be provided the opportunity to initiate and lead interdisciplinary collaborative research projects on circular materials, and connect the materials chemistry and toxicological research at Stockholm University.
