Your Role…
With the increase of the University acting as a European excellence hub, the CIO will play a key role in helping the UL’s ambition to further connect to corporate partners, public sector and private life. The CIO will act as a publicly accessible touch point to the digitalization of the academic landscape during conferences, panels and meetings with public/corporate representatives.
Key areas of responsibility
- Take full accountability of IT Services towards all institutions (academic and administrative) of UL
- Manage, develop and act as collaborative, servant leader towards the internal and external team members of UL IT Department
- Continue to lead the technological / digital transformation at UL on an organizational as well as on technological level
- Act as key representative of IT and technological solutions towards the academic world; translate and communicate as a trustful partner to find the best solutions possible to support R&D
- Architecture and enrich the technological infrastructure as a platform to support our innovative environment’s requirements
- Design, monitor, adapt hand in hand with the CISO a secure environment that balance the security needs of the institution with the individual needs to explore/test/break things quickly as part of the innovative process
- Design/Select/Maintain central software solutions to foster modern support functions across the University; identify, facilitate access and safe usage of ad-hoc solutions preferred by individuals and supported at local level
- Run, monitor and improve the end-users support activity to guarantee efficient incident handling, to facilitate user adoptions of IT solutions, to develop users’ digital skills necessary to support the institution digital transformation
- Act as a Representative of Digitalization and IT of the UL towards external partners and stakeholders, especially towards public life
- Function as a Talent Magnet and Representative of the UL towards young digital and technological talents
What we expect from you…
10+ years of relevant working experience, focusing on IT modernization and digital transformation in alignment with guaranteeing mission critical business solutions.
- Master degree in related discipline
- Fluent in English and French
- Possesses a technology background that includes experience serving as CTO, CIO or Head of IT with a proven track record of leading people, aligning processes and technology in the pursuit of strategic business outcomes
- Experience or deep understanding in working with or within the academic world, showing system awareness towards setups, processes, societal importance and personalities among others
- Substantial experience in driving digital transformation for both internal setups as well as client-facing solutions, including agile methodologies and cloud migration
- Background in Project Management / Data Services: Experience in leading complex technological projects, especially in fields of data solutions and software development
- A recognized thought leader with relevant subject-matter expertise and a strong understanding of the landscape, trends, strategic partnerships, visibility and platform thinking
