The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.

The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers four Bachelor and 15 Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.

Your Role…

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary team of researchers working on how to use and create digital technologies to study and improve how humans learn (https://xcit.org/).

This team has developed a suite of tools, using a rich stack of technologies to support them. These tools include video games, a modular online survey platform, a customizable cognitive assessment platform, data management and processing tools, and much more (for an overview of these technologies, see: http://behaverse.org/).

Your role in this team will be to use, maintain, document, and possibly improve the technologies that have been developed so far in the context of cognitive science research and orchestrate data collection campaigns where data is collected from people using those technologies online. As a research and development specialist you will also play a role in the various national and international research projects of the team as well as the exploitation of the results.

The main tasks will be to:

  • Learn how to use and maintain the Behaverse technology stack
  • Research and support efforts to improve Behaverse
  • Run data collection campaign using Behaverse
  • Data management and processing
  • Contribute to the processing of the data and the exploitation of the results

The successful candidate will become a member of the xCIT team within the Department of Behavioral and Cognitive Science of the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Science at the University of Luxembourg.

What we expect from you…

The set of skills we are looking for is quite large and it is therefore likely that no one candidate will have all the required skills. We are looking for candidates with relevant profiles that match many (but not necessary all) of our criteria and who will be eager and able to autonomously acquire the remaining skills on the job.

  • Excellent Master’s degree (or beyond) in Computer Science or Cognitive Science related fields, with a strong technical, programming component.
