Your Role…
Successful candidates will join the young, vibrant, and interdisciplinary FINATRAX Research Group, which builds bridges between business research and information systems engineering. The group conducts research on the application and the impact of digital technologies like DLT/Blockchain, Digital Identities, Machine Learning/AI, and IoT/5G on organisations from both the private and public sectors. The group consists of doctoral and post-doctoral researchers from diverse backgrounds (e.g., policy, business, technology), united in pursuit of sustainable technologies that positively impact society.
The FINATRAX Research Group has multiple years of experience with European and national research projects and a broad network of industry partners. Candidates will pursue their career with exclusive access to industry data and multiple opportunities for research collaborations.
We offer two different career paths for scientific staff, depending on their focus on an academic or industry career. In our academic track, candidates focus on publications, research grants, teaching experience, and community engagement, while maintaining a positive relationship to industry to get access to first-hand research data. In our industry track, candidates will prepare themselves for a career in industry or in a start-up while utilitzing their previous theoretical knowledge. They will build relationships with our industry partners while having freedom to pursue their own ideas in an innovative and dynamic environment.
Successful candidates will perform the following tasks (weighting according to chosen track):
- Carrying out research in the predefined areas
- Disseminating results through scientific publications
- Communicating and working with stakeholders in government (ministries, regulators, government-run start-up incubators) and companies in the financial service sector
- Preparing research proposals to attract industry partnerships as well as national and European grant projects
- Managing research projects and preparing project deliverables
- Providing guidance to PhD and master students
Your Profile…
Qualifications: The candidate should possess a PhD degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Informations Systems (Engineering), or a related field.
What we are looking for:
- A collaborative team player with a desire to make a personal impact within our interdisciplinary research group
- The commitment to participate in the design and implementation of high-quality solutions that solve significant problems
- Self-initiative, creativity, curiosity, flexibility and enthusiasm to work
- Prior experience in publishing high-quality and high-impact research (including publications in top-tier journals and conference proceedings)
Knowledge and Experience:
The position requires English-language proficiency for both written and verbal communication. Knowledge of French, German and/or Luxembourgish is not required.
The ideal candidate should have some knowledge and/or experience in at least one of the following areas. Competence within all or most of the following areas is not required:
- Service-oriented architectures
- Design patterns
- Modelling languages (e.g., UML)
- Decentral technologies (e.g., distributed ledgers, federated learning)
- Advance programming skills and DevOps skills (Python, Docker, etc.)
- Basic cryptography
- Management of research projects
- Research method(s)
For collaboration within the group, the candidate should be open to technologies such as: IoT, DLT, Digital Identities, Federated Leaning and areas of application such as Energy, FinTech, GovTech, RegTech, or Machine Economy.
