Department of Biology, Section of Functional Genomics invites applicants for a PhD fellowship in E. coli-T7 phage interaction. The project is financed by Independent Research Denmark DFF, FNU project.
Start date is (expected to be) 1st December 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The project
The projects involve biochemical, molecular, and physiological characterization of proteins/enzymes functioning in bacterial stress response and E. coli-T7 phage interaction. The candidate will be trained with multidisciplinary tools including molecular biology, biochemistry, proteomics, metabolomics, genetics, deep sequencing etc. Besides, a short period of exchange to UK is anticipated as associated with the project.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for passionate and highly talented candidates within the field(s) of Microbiology and Biochemistry. Applicants should hold an MSc degree in Molecular microbiology or Biochemistry or a related field. As criteria for the assessment of your qualifications emphasis will also be laid on previous publications (if any) and documented work experience. Experience within more of the following areas will be considered an advantage:
Protein biochemistry for recombinant protein synthesis, protein purification etc.
Molecular biology methods used for mutational study of enzyme function, cloning etc.
Solid experience with performing enzyme kinetic experiments.
Knowledge about molecular microbiology, bacterial stress response, phage biology.
Our group and research- and what do we offer?
The research group is small, currently composed of the PI and one PhD student. The group focuses on the study of bacterial stress response and bacteria-phage interaction. For more information, please visit the homepage at UCPH and Google
The group is a part of Department of Biology, Faculty of SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen. We are located in Copenhagen.
We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and state of the art equipment for protein biochemistry, bioimaging, and high-throughput studies.
