DTU Compute invites applicants for a 2-year position as Post-Doc within the area of Tech4Civ. The position is based in the Tech4Civ research group lead by Deputy Director & Professor Jan Madsen and Programme Director & PhD Student Mie Weile. As part of our team, you will be part of driving anti-disciplinary research together with great colleagues and partners within the area. Further, you will be part of driving an important agenda helping to ensure open, inclusive and democratic organisations for the future.
Research in progress
The Tech4Civ research group is established at DTU Compute and supported by a network of international top researchers and leading professionals within the areas of digitalization, leadership, organisational change, and innovation. Our mission is to make research on digital transformation and innovation in public organisations accessible and comprehensive, and to bring it closer to practice by co-creating and transferring knowledge to public and private organisations, inspiring them to take action.
The overall objective is to enhance the research within the field of driving a digital mindset based on an understanding of the complexity in which digital transformation and innovation is taking place.
At DTU Compute we believe we are in the mist of the beginning of a new paradigm within management, governance and science, changing the role of the engineer. With the digital transformation, technologies are being used to create solutions that enable new business models while simultaneously changing how things are done – changing society from doing digital to being digital. If we are to create inclusive, democratic and open societies and sustainable solutions there is a need for all people to be able to bring in their professional opinion within the digital transformation. With the Tech4Civ strategy, DTU wishes to drive the development of a digital mindset ensuring that contemporary laws and new services are co-created, based on sustainable and ethical solutions, leading to new ecosystems – where solutions to problems of the future are a multistakeholder endeavor.
Responsibilities and qualifications
As Post-Doc you will in close collaboration with the Tech4Civ group:
- develop and conduct research within the area of Tech4Civ as examples but not limited to:
- further the knowledge on how to ensure successful development and implementation of new technologies for the benefit of society
- how digital competencies can be used to accelerate innovation and sustainable solutions in public organisations
- understand and explain the complex world of cross-border and intergovernmental collaboration as a way to gain the needed competencies to drive digital transformation, sustainability and innovation
- build on your current research within the area
- disseminate research results in both scientific and practitioner-oriented channels
- teach within the area of Tech4Civ e.g.:
- support competence development programmes delivering talks and workshops
- ensure lessons learned are shared widely in society
- co-create new tools and methodologies within the area of Tech4Civ e.g.:
- conceptualize insights across different competence development programmes in the form of tools, methods and frameworks that can be applied internationally in public organisations ensuring successful digital and sustainable transformations
- ensure delivery of impactful competence development programmes
- ensure digital solutions not only fits the problem but also the organisation in which it will be used
- identify relevant projects, apply for project funding as well as ensure the project is carried out in line with the work plan and budget
- develop strong faculty and partner relationship, encouraging strong involvement in the programmes
Qualifications
You are a positive person who embraces possibilities and are a team player. You have a PhD degree (or equivalent) and you thrive in combining knowledge of engineering and business, wherefore a PhD in business or engineering is preferable, but not a condition.
You need to have:
- Proven ability and passion for research dissemination, science communication
- Strong interest and curiosity in digital transformation, sustainability and innovation as well as an experimental mindset
- Thrive in being part of a team where co-creation and collaboration is a must
- Respect for the organisation you work in as well as the organisation you work with
- Cross-disiplinary understanding
- Strong organisational as well as communication skills
- Experience in managing research projects

The assessment of applicants will be made by a committee chaired by Professor Jan Madsen and PhD Mie Weile.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is two years.
