The Max Planck Institute for Colloid and Interfaces, with our newly established department Sustainable and Bio-inspired Materials lead by Director Prof. Dr. Silvia Vignolini, strives to address the major societal challenges of this century by taking fundamental science questions spanning across multiple disciplines. We are committed to foster innovative fundamental concepts and develop novel and disruptive techniques enabling frontier research in the field of biomaterial and sustainable chemistry. In this context, we invite applications of outstanding electron microscopist for a position as a Max Planck Research Group Leader W2 BBesG (m/f/d).

More specifically, we are looking for an internationally recognized scholar with a strong academic track record in Electron Microscopy in Cryogenic Conditions. The appointment is for five years. Candidates should hold a PhD (in Physics, Chemistry or Material Science) awarded within the past ten years. Candidates should preferably have demonstrated evidence of independent creative thinking. There is an opportunity for close interactions with other research groups at the institute, in particular with a new established Department led by Prof. Dr. Silvia Vignolini.

The position is available starting from January 2024.

The Max Planck Research Group is limited to a term of five years. Depending on the progress of the work and taking into account the financial possibilities and those under labour legislation, your employment can be extended by two years on an individual basis according to scientific criteria and after a positive evaluation.

Your remuneration is based on remuneration group W2 of the Federal Civil Service Remuneration Act (Bundesbesoldungsgesetz – BBesG).
