The Max Planck Institute for Brain Research (MPI for Brain Research) in Frankfurt am Main steadily growing research institution in the field of basic biological / medical research and is specifically concerned with the functioning of circuits in the brain. The institute, which currently employs about 250 people, consists of scientific departments, research groups and several service facilities.

Our research group, Memory and Navigation Circuits (Group leader: Dr. Hiroshi Ito), investigates neural circuits that are necessary for animals to navigate to a desired location in the environment.

We are looking for a Technician (BTA/MTA/CTA) (m/f/d) to join our group in fulltime employment with a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2025.

Your responsibilities

You will work in close collaboration with our international researchers. The main tasks will be histology, including brain sectioning and immunohistochemistry, construction of multi-electrode microdrives, virus injection in the animal’s brain, as well as experimental support of our researchers.

Your profile

  • Professional training as technician (BTA/MTA/CTA) (m/f/d), or a related qualification
  • Prior experience in handling of rodents as well as knowledge in neuroscience are desirable
  • Willingness to participate in animal experiments
  • Ability to work in a structured manner, planning and coordination skills, multi-tasking
  • Good command of the English language is required and basic conversational skill in German is desirable
  • Energetic, highly motivated personality with strong communication skills and team spirit
