We are looking for an outstanding candidate to provide operational leadership and management to ensure the successful operation of Nottingham Drives Specialist Services, a DER Industrialisation Centre (DER-IC), an exciting new development on the journey to a Zero Carbon Future. The role holder will develop and deliver a centre operations plan, leading and co-ordinating an effective, best practice approach to operations management operating at commercial pace and pioneering a new way of engaging with industrial customers to ensure that our world leading research finds its way to industrial applications.

Working alongside senior leaders within the faculty, the role holder will manage budgetary, resource and operational planning, process monitoring and on-going improvements to a world leading facility specialising in power electronics, machines and drives. The role holder will be responsible for monitoring and reporting key performance indicators and analysing feedback, data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement across the centre.

Adopting and fostering a continuous improvement culture to provide effective centre operations management and a seamless service delivery. The role holder will use their initiative on a daily basis to overcome day-to-day challenges, whilst keeping the centre objectives in mind when making decisions. The role relies heavily on strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and the ability to build and maintain this rapport is critical to success.

The DER-IC is a UKRI-funded Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund programme that is led by the University of Newcastle with centres established in key regional institutions with specific specialisations. The Midlands centre is jointly hosted by the University of Nottingham and Warwick Manufacturing Group. The key aim of DER-IC is to galvanise the UK Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD) supply chain in the UK through provision of access for industry to world class manufacturing and test facilities. The role holder will work in collaboration with the technical and research leads for the centre to provide an operations provision that supports delivery.

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements maybe considered.
