The School of Veterinary Medicine and Science is an innovative and forward-thinking school at University of Nottingham. This is demonstrated by the dramatic increase of our student numbers by moving to a dual intake system. In September 2019 150 undergraduate students started with us, with a further 150 starting in April 2020.  We have been consistently ranked #1 in NSS survey since our first graduating cohort in 2011. The school has 4 strategic research areas: “Diagnostics and Therapeutics”, “One Virology”, “Ruminant Population Health” and “Global Health: Antimicrobial Resistance”.

We are looking to recruit an Assistant or Associate Professor to further enhance our world class research in biomedical sciences. You will join and contribute to the Diagnostics and Therapeutics strategic research area and to our existing strength in endocrine-related cancers, integrating into the cluster for Gene Expression Regulation in Complex Disease.

We are seeking a cancer scientist to complement our existing strength in endocrine-related cancers.

You will integrate with the University’s research strengths in prostate, breast, ovarian and testicular cancers and develop a career-appropriate track record in both research and teaching and will contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the School. You will also provide a role model that promotes a positive research culture.

As an Assistant professor you will have a growing reputation in your field and demonstrable potential to make a significant impact on research and teaching. You will develop a research programme in the field of endocrine-related cancers addressing either fundamental mechanisms or clinically relevant concerns in this field.

As an Associate Professor you will have also have a substantial and growing reputation for your research.

You will undertake research, individually and collaboratively, and publish high-quality, impactful papers regularly. You will seek and secure funding through the development of your own research proposals and be active in research and knowledge exchange projects both internally and externally. You will take an active role in supervising doctoral researchers and will take responsibility for leading new research and other initiatives linked to your area of expertise.

You will have the ability to deliver a high standard of teaching (an Associate professor may have a teaching qualification to demonstrate this) and through a variety of methods to support the School’s teaching requirements, within your area of expertise. You will also be responsible for the development of content and structure of existing and new modules as part of the overall curriculum, with the potential to contribute toward delivery at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

This is a permanent, full-time post (36.25 hours). Arrangements for job share may be considered.
