We are looking to appoint a researcher to work on a research project focused on the gender financing gap in university spinouts. The role holder will carry out academic research which primarily includes literature searches, collecting data from administrative/secondary datasets, merging, preparing and maintaining large quantitative datasets, preparing datasets for quantitative analysis, conducting quantitative analysis, maintaining clear records for data management, and drafting of reports.
During the post, the role holder will:
- Undertake supervised research to include planning, organising and collecting administrative/secondary datasets, preparing data for merging into a single dataset and merging the data, undertaking quality assurance processes, preparing data for quantitative data analysis, and conducting quantitative analysis, within an agreed framework.
- Conduct literature searches and analyses/critical evaluations using agreed approaches to inform the data gathering process.
- Co-ordinate with the research team, prepare updates on the data collection process, and be part of the team in achieving the objectives and deadlines of the project.
Applicants must have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area (a higher degree in relevant a discipline is desirable). Knowledge and experience in quantitative data collection, data management, and data analysis skills are required.
The role holder will be managed by project leads Dr Gary Chapman and Dr Lorna Treanor.
This position will be offered on a part-time (10 hours per week), fixed term contract available from 24/07/2023 until 01/03/2024.
