An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Technician within Ruminant Population health research group, School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, located on the Sutton Bonington Campus. The person(s) appointed will work as a member of a research team and your role will focus on supporting delivery of a funded BBSRC project through planning, supporting and conducting on farm data collection and collation to high quality standards at both the University of Nottingham and 6 other dairy farms across the Midlands. You will be coordinating and conducting on-farm research activities. The post would be well suited to someone who has proven technical experience of working with large animals, particularly cattle.
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of HNC in a relevant subject, or equivalent qualifications, and considerable work experience in a relevant role or substantial work experience in a relevant role.
Candidates should have experience of handling large animals, particularly cattle, knowledge and understanding of a range of on-farm equipment and an understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures. The post will require excellent communication and IT skills, the ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure, and a willingness to work both independently and as part of a team.
This position is offered on a fixed term contract until 30 August 2025. Hours are full time (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
