TU/e has made an impressive educational transition aimed at training future engineers, through the implementation of the Bachelor College in 2012 and the Graduate School in 2013. Therefore, we need enthusiastic, motivated teachers who can really connect with the students and would like to have impact on their study career.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a teacher position in its CBL/skill team. You will combine teaching workshops/trainings with supervising/co-coaching in challenge-based learning (CBL) projects. You will collaborate with and support academic staff in the innovations related to the Challenge based learning project education in our BSc program. You are eager to learn how to teach in a variety of projects and how to prepare students in their development as engineers for the future. This means you take the lead in front of a group of students and cooperate with colleagues to organize the CBL projects and align your contributions to theirs. You do not mind taking up different tasks and you do have experience with rotating between different roles.

As a teacher you will be (co)responsible for:

  • Challenge based learning innovations in the project courses of the BSc program. In collaboration with the lecturers in these courses you will work on the curricular cohesion of the CBL learning goals. This includes the organization, co-design and assessment of the courses and projects. 
  • The design and modelling learning line in the BSc curriculum.
  • The setup, organization and execution of the program components (training and workshops) related to CAD/FEM modelling.
  • further development of courses in terms of developing online educational modules and online assessment, using e.g. methods such as learning analytics.

Job requirements

  • You have a MSc or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant Engineering discipline
  • You are proficient in using CAD/FEM modelling preferably using (or willing to learn) Siemens NX.
  • You have excellent communication skills and you are fluent in English;
  • You are willing to start a UTQ (University Teaching Qualification) trajectory.

  • An initial temporary appointment for a period of one year with the intention to convert this into a permanent contract at a mutual positive evaluation. 
  • Salary and benefits (such as a pension scheme, paid pregnancy and maternity leave, partially paid parental leave) in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. Depending on experience and education, the salary for a full-time contract ranges between € 3.974,- and 5.439,- gross per month (salary scale 11, CAO Dutch Universities)
  • A year-end bonus of 8.3% and annual vacation pay of 8%.
