These postdoctoral positions for the design and chemical synthesis of chemoselective probes is available in the laboratory of Associate Professor Daniel Globisch. The Globisch laboratory is an international and multidisciplinary research group with a research focus on the development of new Chemical Biology methodologies to enhance the scope of metabolomics-based research. (Example literature: Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2021, 60, 23232, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2018, 57, 13805, Chem. Sci. 2023, 14, 5291, Chem. Comm. 2023, 59, 5843, check homepage for updates). This highly interdisciplinary project will include newly developed techniques at the interface of Chemistry and Biology with a combination of chemical synthesis, mass spectrometric analysis of metabolites in biological samples, chemical biology techniques and the investigation of microbiome metabolism. This project is in close collaboration with the laboratory of Johannes Hov from the Oslo University Hospital and the University of Oslo in Norway, aiming to investigate metabolomic alterations int the liver disease primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). PSC is strongly linked to gut inflammation, providing a strong rationale to focus particularly on potential microbial metabolites. Our team is currently searching for a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral researchers with passion and enthusiasm for science to support our ongoing interdisciplinary research projects to develop new chemoselective methodologies.

Duties
The postdoctoral fellows will work on developing new methods for the analysis of metabolites with mass spectrometry and chemoselective metabolomics techniques. These methods will be applied for the discovery and analysis of microbiome metabolites and biomarkers for liver diseases. The postdoctoral work will include chemical synthesis, analysis and interpretation of the results, precise documentation, as well as reporting the results on a regular basis and forward planning as well as collaboration with doctoral students, students and the laboratory of Johannes Hov. The postdoctoral positions will be 100% research.
Requirements
The successful candidate must hold a PhD degree and should have documented laboratory experience in at least two of the following areas: (Bio)organic Chemistry, Chemical Biology and mass spectrometric analysis of biological samples. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labor unions, etc. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities such as good collaborative skills, motivation and independence, as well as how the applicant through his/her experience and competence is judged to have the abilities necessary to develop within the project. Good English speaking, reading and writing skills are required.
Additional qualifications
