Where you’ll work
The student recruitment team consists of 14 colleagues: campaign marketeers, event managers, recruitment activity coordinators, content marketeers and a CRM marketeer. We range in age from 24 to 62 years and are located in Wageningen. Our mission is to inform and inspire prospective students about studying at WUR. We support each other, help each other and enjoy celebrating big and small events with cake. The team is part of the Marketing team, part of Corporate Communication & Marketing (CC&M).
Your day
After getting good coffee from the Atlas building lobby, you quickly join the daily stand-up of the your team: Student recruitment. You share an update on new exciting content you have created in collaboration with the content marketeer (Vincent) and the campaign marketeer (Moniek) for international prospective students. With this creative mix of video, photos, text, ads and social content, you believe the campaign to reach new students will definitely work.
Next stop
Meeting with the international student team ambassador team about the new blogs. After a nice sandwich, you sit down with Vincent and Moniek. What content is still needed to boost the Virtual Open Day? What actions do we need to roll out to assist the prospective students with their choice? Some emails, coordination with colleagues from social media, a quick call to that one student, and your day is already over. Welcome to Wageningen University & Research (WUR)!
As our new content marketeer, you do everything possible to inform and inspire Generation Z and Alpha about studying at WUR through amazing content. These are important highlights of your work and what you should be able to do:
- You give substance to the international content strategy. This includes tasks such as writing web content, newsletters and blog articles, creating visual and written content for social media ads, contributing to the script for new videos, providing input for social media posts, and developing effective offline communication materials;
- You translate (and maintain) the tone of voice and tone of image in all materials you create;
- With your basis knowledge of data, you can handle AB testing, heatmaps, and improve content for better conversion, engagement, and reach;
- You are comfortable with a mix of helping implement our long-term strategic plan and handling short-term campaign work (virtual open days, affiliate) with deadlines;
- Working closely with specialized colleagues and external agencies is second nature to you;
- Editorial work, such as continuously adapting and improving (SEO) content on website, in close collaboration with different WUR programmes, doesn’t bore your.
Your qualities
Here is what you bring to the table:
- A completed relevant bachelor’s degree;
- 1-2 years of experience as a content marketeer in an (inter)national organization;
- Curiosity about and some knowledge of the target audience: international bachelor’s and master’s degree seekers, specifically Generation Z and Alpha;
- Talent for writing engaging texts and a knack for visual thinking. Being able to translate the uniqueness of WUR and a message into a script for photography or video is a plus. Additional, you excel at crafting enjoyable, fluent English texts;
- A pragmatic approach to marketing. While having a plan is important, you also enjoy taking action;
- Enthusiasm and a cheerful demeanour, combined with expertise in the field;
- English language proficiency at level C1. If you don’t meet this requirement, you can seek assistance from our language centre: Wageningen in’to Language;

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 3.024 and € 4.317 for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 9). It concerns a 0.8 FTE employment contract. We will start with a one-year contract, with the intention of transitioning to a permanent employment contract afterwards.
