We are looking for a highly motivated researcher (holding a PhD degree in biology, molecular medicine, or a related field) with a strong interest in glial cell biology and neurodegenerative diseases.

The job holder will be part of the Glial Cell Biology group, led by Dr Deborah Kronenberg-Versteeg, and located at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Tübingen. Using innovative 3D human(ized) models we try to understand mechanisms of aging and neurodegeneration with a particular emphasis on glial-neuron interactions.


Your tasks

As part of a larger project team, the successful candidate will analyze neuron-glial interaction using a range of techniques, including electrophysiology (Multi-Electrode Array and Patch Clamp), transcriptomics (RNAseq) and advanced imaging techniques (FISH RNAscope, Ca2+-imaging).

Requirements

  • You hold a PhD in (bio)medical sciences or another relevant discipline
  • Experience with brain slice cultures, electrophysiological recordings, and tissue culture are desirable
  • Background in advanced imaging techniques (FISH RNAscope, and Ca2+-imaging)
  • Strong data analytical skills
  • Excellent work ethic, initiative, and time management skills
  • Strong communication and writing skills in the English language are a prerequisite
