The Centre of Clinical Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, invites applications for a Professorship (W2) of Production Medicine and Herd Health Management for Ruminants commencing as soon as possible.

The successful applicant is expected to represent the discipline of production medicine and veterinary herd health management including udder health in teaching, research and administration with the focus on cattle. The candidate will also provide the respective clinical services and lead the mobile veterinary service and herd health care team. Particular areas of interest of this professorship include methods and techniques of herd care, ruminant health management, herd diagnostics, remediation efforts, preventive measures including vaccinations, quality assurance systems as well as hygiene and biosecurity concepts. The outpatient clinic and herd health care service are well established and provide the most advanced patient care with state-of-the-art equipment and facility.

Prerequisites for this position are an outstanding personality, excellent leadership skills and longstanding experience in the pertinent disciplines. A university degree in veterinary medicine, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, excellent academic achievements and teaching experience and national or international board certification in the bovine field are mandatory. Further experience and/or qualifications in the fields of epidemiology, artificial intelligence or machine learning are advantageous. Longstanding experience in raising third-party funds from national and international funding programs is desirable.

As communication with students, staff, industry and stakeholder will require knowledge of spoken and written German, it is germane for the successful candidate to be fluent in German.
