Uppsala Health Economics (UHE) is a specialized unit of health economists, within the Social Medicine/CHAP (Child Health and Parenting) group, at the Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences, at Uppsala University. Our team has expertise in applying health economic methods to health-related questions, including trial-based and model-based economic evaluations of health interventions, and using register data to evaluate the impact of health services on health and economic outcomes. Our health economists lead several projects across different fields including Mental Health, Child Health, Public Health, Precision Medicine and Innovation in Healthcare. Our approach is grounded in collaboration, working closely with clinicians to reach the best outcomes. We work with both national and international partners. engage in commissioned work for healthcare providers, municipalities, and independent foundations.
Duties
We are looking for a qualified and motivated postdoctoral researcher to work in the following projects:
- Microsimulation modelling in child health
- Analysis of the distribution of utilization in child health services in Sweden
- Health economic evaluation of interventions in mental health and child health
- Health economic evaluation of innovation and healthcare improvement projects
The projects require knowledge in health economics, statistics, econometrics, and epidemiology. The tasks include analysis of data from clinical studies and Swedish registers including data on resource use, costs and health outcomes, as well as conducting cost-effectiveness analyses of different interventions. The postdoctoral researcher is also expected to write scientific publications, contribute to grant writing, teaching and supervise junior researchers.
These projects provide a unique opportunity to develop new research tools, and support better decision-making in child and mental health.
Requirements
The candidate should have a PhD in one of the following areas: health economics, economics, medical science, epidemiology, public health. The ideal candidate should have experience in working with large databases and analyzing cost and outcome data, as well as conducting cost-effectiveness analyses using advanced quantitative methods.
Additional qualifications
Previous experience in register-based studies that can be demonstrated by scientific publications are merits, as well as experience with tools for data visualization and presenting research findings effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and be fluent in spoken and written English and Swedish.
Additional qualifications
Experience working with statistical programs STATA and/or R is desirable. Previous experience in research and basic knowledge of the Swedish language is also desirable.
About the employment
The employment is temporary for a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 3 years in accordance with the central collective agreement. Scope of employment 100%. Starting date 2025-03-01 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
