Project description

With the rise of exascale computing, the demand for faster, more energy-efficient applications have never been greater. Fundamental kernels and solvers—key components that power large-scale simulations—can consume a significant portion of computational resources. In this project, we combine expertise from three divisions to analyze a set of scientific proxy applications with the help of computer arithmetic and verification tools, optimize the software based on the knowledge of hardware, and possibly reformulate algorithmic solutions in selected scientific applications.

The project goal is to advance sustainable scientific computing by developing energy-efficient and hardware-optimized software solutions with minimal or no sacrifices to the performance and accuracy expectations.
