Job Summary
The Purdue Proteomics Facility is seeking a creative scientist to work on diverse mass-spectrometry-based research projects with scientists from Purdue and other institutions. The senior research associate will provide expertise on the design and implementation of proteomics experiments, develop protocols tailored to each specific project, process and prepare samples, and perform proteomics experiments. Train novice users in proteomics techniques and data collection, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot mass spectrometry instrumentation. Maintain research results, assist with writing progress reports and scientific manuscripts.
Required:
- Master’s degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, proteomics, or related discipline
- Three (3) years of experience in the discipline
- Will consider equivalent experience in lieu of master’s degree
- Previous direct experience with mass spectrometry
- Demonstrated track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals
- Knowledge of general biology, biochemistry, and analytical chemistry techniques
- Ability to work independently or with minimum supervision, strong organizational skills, and ability to work in a dynamic and team environment
- Multitasking and ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects and workload
- Excellent communication skills and able to work with people from diverse backgrounds
Preferred:
- Ph.D.
- Direct hand-on experiences of performing proteomics experiments using LC-MS/MS.
- Demonstrated skills and experiences in molecular biology techniques
