Job description

The biophysics groups at Ghent University (department Physics and astronomy) opens a new position for a post-doctoral position for 3 years. The starting date is flexible from August 2022 until January 2023. You will join a team of about 14 people (Master students, PhD-students, Post-docs, Technical Staff and Team lead) and you will hold a position funded by the ERC-starting grant from Prof. Nele Vandersickel (SMARTHEART 2020).

In our team, we develop a software package called Directed-Graph-Mapping (DGM) which can analyze any electro-anatomical dataset of a cardiac arrhythmia such as Atrial Tachycardia, Ventricular Tachycardia, Atrial Fibrillation, Ventricular Fibrillation and Torsade de Pointes. All information regarding DGM can be found an our dedicated website www, dgmapping, com.

The goal of DGM is threefold:
1. We aim for DGM to become the standard tool for analyzing rotational and focal activity of computer simulations
2. We aim for DGM to become the standard tool for analyzing rotational and focal activity of experimental datasets (e.g. needle data from animal experiments, optical data, socket data…)
3. We aim for DGM to enter the clinical workflow to improve ablation therapy

Your job will be to help realizing these 3 aims by conducting research, building relations with (clinical, computational) partners, helping improving the software. Your day-to-day job will be customized based on your personal skills and interests.
