Position Description
The School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), Division of Drama invites applications for sessional instructors to teach the following course in Fall 2022.
The Fall 2022 term runs from August 29 to December 23, 2022; please see the academic schedule for additional important dates and deadlines.
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING COURSE OFFERING IS TENTATIVE, PENDING FUNDING AND SUFFICIENT ENROLMENTS.
DRAM 468 Intermediate Performance Creation
Fall 2022 Sem 01 Tuesday 10:00 – 11:50; Lab 1 Thursday 10:00-11:50
Two Sessionals hired at 0.5 HCE each; this course will be co-taught.
Course description: Examines a borad cross-section of approaches, both historical and contemporary, to performance creation, physical theatre and theatrical devising. Conceptual and practical introduction to a wide range of distinct models for training and creation.
FALL 2022 FOCUS
The specific focus of the Fall 2022 iteration of DRAM 468 relates to task-based, participatory performance-creation with an emphasis on communal collaboration and socially-engaged narrative construction. Priority will be given to applicants with experience and expertise in both virtual and in-person collaborative processes in these areas.
Course Hours: 3 units; (2S-2)
Prerequisite(s): Drama 368
Antirequisite(s): Credit for Drama 468 and 460 360 will not be allowed.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in the creative and/or performing arts
- Active contemporary practice as a professional artist with national collaboration and/or recognition
- Experience with immersive, participatory and site-specific performance practices
- Experience with in-person and online collaborative narrative creation and `world-building¿ processes focused on social and environmental issues
- Experience in performance-creation collectives/companies, including facilitation and administration

The amount of remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule B. Please see the Faculty Association’s website at http://www.ucalgary.ca/TUCFA for further information regarding conditions of employment and remuneration.
As per the Collective Agreement, the SCPA will adhere to the right of first refusal terms (Section 23.12.1 and 23.12.2) for Sessional Appointments, available in detail here.
