Course Number and Title: WGS470Y – Community Engagement

Course Description: The application of theoretical study to practical community experience. Advanced Women and Gender Studies students have the opportunity to apply knowledge acquired in the Women and Gender Studies curriculum through a practicum placement within a community organization. Not eligible for CR/NCR option. Note this is a half-course taught over a full-year.

Sessional Dates of Appointment: September 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023

Salary:

$8,489.67 (Sessional Lecturer I);

$8,869.25 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term);

$9,085.58 (Sessional Lecturer II);

$9,301.90 (Sessional Lecturer III)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications: Completed M.A. and professional experience working in non-profit community organizations.

Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience of a similar course at the university level. Experience using online teaching and learning platforms, apps, and software is also preferred.

Description of Duties:

  • Preparing the syllabus, reading list and lecture materials
  • Delivering lectures
  • Developing, marking and administering course assignments, tests and final assessments
  • Holding regular office hours
  • Communicating with students via email and Quercus
