Course description:
This course is focused on the design and documentation of audience-specific interactive digital media and organized around three key themes: 1) the user-centered design process; 2) interaction design principles, patterns, and best practices; and 3) designing for specific technological contexts (e.g., desktop/web/mobile apps and emerging technologies like wearables and augmented/virtual reality). In addition, this course provides MScBMC students in the Biomedical Media Design Field an opportunity to design and develop the pre-production documents (e.g., user research/personas, wireframes, user journey maps, iterative prototypes, etc.) for their Master’s Research Projects (MRPs). This course is a prerequisite for the MSC2006H, Advanced Media Design Technologies, where students use the design specifications created in this course to develop and implement the interactive media object.
The course assignments are structured to reflect the preproduction deliverables/tools used in the interactive media design industry and allow the students to practice documenting and communicating their design solutions and rationales for project stakeholders.

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1 to December 31, 2022
Salary (In accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement):
Effective September 1, 2020 – Sessional Lecturer I – $16,979.33 (Y, full course) & $8,489.67 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $17,738.50 (Y, full course) & $8,869.25 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer II – $18,171.15 (Y, full course) & $9,085.58 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer III – $18,603.79 (Y, full course) & $9,301.90 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE). All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay. Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications: Minimum MScBMC, MA or MSc in relevant area. Currency and mastery of subject area required and demonstrated excellence in teaching similar courses.
Description of duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; the development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations; calculation and submission of grades; holding a minimum regular office hours of 2 hours per week; preparation of course for remote/online delivery, if necessary.
