Course number and title: APD1218H – Seminar and Practicum in School Based Assessment, Consultation and Intervention (Pass/Fail)
Course description: This course supports and monitors the development of students’ clinical skills (assessment, consultation and intervention) in their 250 hour-field placement in a school setting. Seminars are typically scheduled on alternate weeks for the academic year. They focus on issues related to working as a psychologist in school settings including the school context, psychological assessment, individual and cultural diversity, consultation, prevention, and mental health intervention. The seminars will include explicit teaching of behavioural observation, interviewing and consultation skills.

Salary: As of September 1, 2022, the minimum stipend is $8,489.67 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. As of January 1, 2023, the minimum stipend is $8,489.67 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage.
Minimum Qualifications:
1 – Candidate must have a doctoral degree in school and/or clinical psychology;
2 -Must be registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario with school and/or clinical competence;
3 -Experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching graduate courses, with expertise in content area;
4 – Direct clinical experience working in the area of psychological assessment in the school context.
Preferred Qualifications:
1 – Individuals with demonstrated clinical experience;
2 – Demonstrated scholarship in the area of the course topic;
Description of duties:
1 – Teach a minimum of 36 hours.
2 – Prepare teaching resources for each class and provide relevant materials.
3 – Assess and evaluate students’ work and provide a final course grade according to OISE/UT grading practices.
4 – Be available for informal meetings/communications with students as necessary.
