Course description:

Intermediate Spanish for non-natives. Intensive grammar review of the structures of Spanish integrated with an introduction to reading authentic Spanish material, with practice designed to build vocabulary and to improve oral and written expression.

Class schedule: Tuesday 13-15:00 and Thursday 13:00 – 14:00 (NOTE: All courses at UofT Mississauga are expected to be delivered in-person in Fall 2022.  In keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the University).

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023

Salary:

Sessional Lecturer I – $16,979.34 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $17,738.50 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II – $18,171.16 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III – $18,603.80 inclusive of vacation pay (1.0 FCE)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications: Applicants must have a completed a Ph.D. in Spanish Studies. Demonstrated experience with a beginner Spanish language course and expertise in Spanish cultural studies. Native or near native Spanish language fluency expected.

Preferred qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Preference will be given those with experience teaching a similar on-line language course. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.

Description of duties:

Preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to the course.
