The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Marketing specializing in Quantitative Research. The appointment will be at the rank of an Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2023.

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Marketing or a related discipline by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter. In addition, applicants must have a strong theoretical and methodological background in Quantitative Research, typically with training and interest in economics and statistics, and a demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to important questions and issues in Marketing. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach in the Master of Management Analytics program.

We seek candidates with demonstrated excellence in research and creative professional work, and a demonstrated excellence for teaching. Moreover, we seek individuals whose research and teaching interests complement and deepen our existing strengths.

For this position, excellence in research is evidenced primarily by the quality of the submitted dissertation, the job market paper or a research pipeline that is at high international levels, presentations at top conferences, presenting research at other highly ranked schools, the submitted research statement, as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing.

The successful candidate for this position is expected to pursue independent, innovative research at the highest international level, and to publish articles in internationally recognized top-tier academic journals in the field of Marketing. Individuals that can publish or have been previously published in Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Management Science, and Journal of Marketing and journals of similar caliber and international standing are preferred. Other noteworthy activities in Marketing that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline are assets.

Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in teaching and potential to teach in the Master of Management Analytics program, as evidenced by teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below) submitted as part of the application, a strong ability to integrate both theory and practice through effective communication and presentation skills, engaging activities that will stimulate and challenge the intellectual capacity of faculty and students, and a demonstrated mastery of their subject area and of analytics, as well as strong letters of reference. Teaching excellence will also be assessed by the quality of the invited classroom presentation. Both previous experience with graduate supervision and a demonstrated willingness to undertake graduate supervision will be considered as assets.

Select candidates will be invited to present their research at the Rotman School to faculty and students.

The Rotman School of Management has a strong research-oriented faculty that is supportive of serious scholarship and committed to the professional development of its faculty. Within the University of Toronto the Area has close ties with the departments of Psychology, Statistics and Economics. All Rotman Marketing Ph.D. students complete graduate level courses in at least one of these departments.
