The Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research (Bad Nauheim, Germany) invites applications for a full or part time Flow Cytometry Specialist – Sorter Operator (f/m/d), Flow Cytometry Core Facility, Ref: 2022_15.

The Flow Cytometry Facility at the MPI-HLR is seeking a Flow Cytometry Specialist. The core facility provides key scientific services to multiple research groups and support broad range of projects that include stem cell biology, immunology, and developmental biology. We work with different samples, i.e. primary tissue samples from mouse, human, and zebrafish and various cell lines. The facility is equipped with various sorters (FACS AriaIII, BioRadS3e, Bigfoot and Large Particle Sorter) and an analytical cytometer (LSR Fortessa).

Your responsibilities

  • Cell sorting, analytical flow cytometry, and data analysis
  • Training and support for users of the core facility
  • Development of new experimental approaches
  • Calibration and maintenance of flow cytometers and cell sorters
  • Experimental assistance on various research projects
  • General lab organization and administrative tasks

Your qualifications

  • Professional training as technical assistant (BTA, MTA) or B.Sc., M.Sc. degree
  • Experience in cell sorting/flow cytometry is desirable but not necessary
  • Highly organised, a team player in a scientific-, service-oriented environment
  • Good learning potential and the ability to troubleshoot problems that arise with flow sorters and analysers is essential
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English is mandatory
