Your Role…
The Financial Controller will be in charge within the External Funds unit of the following tasks:
- Manage the financial reporting of external funded projects and ensure the consolidation of financial information is in adequacy with the applicable framework and agreed timetable along the project lifecycle (from creation to closure);
- Alert at own initiative on unusual deviations/fluctuations, formulate hypothesis/solutions and draw conclusions based on a quantitative and qualitative analysis to give advice;
- Master eligibility rules and VAT principles for both EU-funded and FNR-funded programs and proactively anticipate and support/coach stakeholders on consequences to promote this knowledge across a wider audience (RSB, Research Facilitators, Financial Controllers, etc.);
- Ensure that financial databases made available are exhaustive, consistent and relevant to foster decision making;
- Act as a key point of contact for external audit of projects as requested by the funder to demonstrate the statements accuracy;
- Coordinate with Financial Controllers within the unit and from other entities to share best practices and acknowledged procedures;
- Analyse and maintain financial instruments considering the needs of the organisation, develop dashboards and KPI and streamline workflows to meet reporting deadlines.
What we expect from you…
- Master’s degree specialized in finance, economics, accounting or similar;
- More than 5 years of relevant work experience;
- Good oral and written command of French and English is required, knowledge of German and/or Luxembourgish being an asset;
- Demonstrated understanding of all business processes including relation to the own discipline;
- Strong IT tools skills including Excel advanced functions (e.g. Pivot Tables), SAP ERP modules (CO, FI, MM, HR) and BI;
- Proven capabilities in managing and reporting costs;
- Robust ability to analyse and synthetize;
- Rigorous, pragmatic and efficient;
- Team player able to work independently and to cope with strict deadlines;
- Excellent communication and organisational competencies with attention to details and accuracy;
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic, multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
