The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.
The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers four Bachelor and 15 Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.
The University of Luxembourg is seeking a Research Scientist to work at the intersection of philosophy/ethics and computer sciences at the newly established Centre of Digital Ethics.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of the new Centre both conceptually and organizationally. A particular emphasis lies on the interdisciplinary collaboration between colleagues from the different Faculties and Centres of the University of Luxembourg.
Your Role…
- Supporting research projects and the development of research projects on various levels
- Administer communication with people and institutions
- Plan quality research, project managing the scientific activity and supervising the research team in cooperation with the Professor/Associate professor and/ or Principle Investigator in all activities
- Conduct, on own initiative, research and/or develop own research projects in a specific scientific area
- Identify, apply for and manage research funding as well as allocate project resources
- Collect, interpret, analyse research related data and results
- Create and ensure reports (quantitative and qualitative), in due time and accordance with defined project requirements, formats and procedures
- Write up research findings and support the development of scientific articles for publication and dissemination
What we expect from you…
- PHD in a discipline of Humanities or Computer Science or another relevant discipline
- A very good command of English, French and/or German. Luxembourgish is considered an asset.
- Ability to work autonomously
- Engaging in teamwork within a research group
- Will contribute to teaching activities on a long-term basis
- Proven ability to formulate advice on and manage teaching and/or research programmes/projects
