The position
We are looking for an experienced enterprise and domain architect to participate in our team and provide our users the state-of-art IT landscape that meets their needs. You will help us to translate our ambitions, goals and strategies at a strategic level into a good, secure, cost-effective architecture that enables the university to achieve its goals anchored in the TU/e strategy. An architect with a pragmatic approach, guiding our product teams to ensure technical solutions, platforms and infrastructure are turned into services that make sense to the business.

As a member of the Office of the CIO, you will join our architecture team. The TU/e architecture team consisting of three enterprise / domain architects, expanded by several solution architects. Solution architecture is organized within scope of the product teams.

In your role as architect, together with product area leads, you jointly advise the CIO / IT management on how to keep the IT landscape up to date and fit-for-purpose. Your focus is mainly platforms and infrastructure, to create building blocks for supporting excellent research and education. You will also guide product teams to understand and uphold architecture guidelines when working on epics and user stories from the digitalization board and product and sprint backlogs.

Job requirements

  • Minimum education requirement is a Bachelor degree and at least 3 years of experience as an IT- or enterprise architect of a complex organization;
  • As an enterprise architect you have broad view of what an organization needs as a whole and you are able to translate that into necessary building blocks and you are able to communicate this to different stakeholders within the organization;
  • You are convinced that technical solutions must serve a purpose that makes sense to the business;
  • You have a strong technical knowledge, helping you to countermeasure technical and infrastructural design from an architectural point of view;
  • Professional communication skills both in Dutch and English – and you know how to communicate clearly about complex topics in powerful and simple language when helping stakeholders; 
  • You are pragmatic (but you always have a clear view on the horizon);
  • You have organizational sensitivity;
  • You have experience using architecture frameworks like Zachman and DYA and are experienced in modelling the IT-architecture based on the ArchiMate modelling-language (knowledge of Bizzdesign Enterprise Studio is a pre);
  • Acquaintance with relevant reference architectures for the higher educational sector (HORA/HOSA) and know how to apply them within an organization is a pre;
  • You are a teamplayer, you represent the team and you are able to work independent;
  • Knowledge of the research domain is a pre.
