Job description
Are you interested in Business Process Management and in particular Business Process Compliance? Do you want to investigate how process mining, data science and natural language processing methods can contribute to enhancing the state-of-the-art in this research area? If you can relate to this, we invite you to apply for the PhD position in Business Process Management.
Topic
Business Process Compliance (BPC) is the task of ensuring that business processes obey the rules, guidelines and constraints imposed on them. Due to the continuously growing number of regulations, e.g., around 2000 legally binding basic and amending legal acts were adopted by the European Union in 2022*, BPC constitutes a challenging obligation affecting companies throughout every domain. Digitalization therefore becomes crucial in order to remain competitive and emerging technologies like process mining, data science and natural language processing methods offer promising means for solving BPC problems. This includes, e.g., the identification of compliance constraints spanning multiple process instances from natural language text or enabling compliance checking across multiple process instances based on event logs and event streams. Addressing those challenges helps companies to optimize processes resulting in reduced costs and errors.
